Zero Tolerance

BACK TO MAIN INDEX

We aim to treat our patients courteously at all times and we expect our patients to treat our staff respectfully.

We take threats, abusive or violent behaviour against any of our staff or patients very seriously.

If a patient is violent or abusive, they will be warned to stop their behaviour. If they persist, we may exercise our right to take action to have them removed immediately if necessary from our list of patients.

Violent and Aggressive Behaviour:

We know that people visiting the surgery can sometimes be worried and anxious and we will do our very best to meet your needs. However, the practice exercises a zero tolerance policy with respect to violent or abusive patients. This means that we will take immediate action to remove you (and other members of your family who are registered with the practice) from the practice list should your behaviour become threatening, abusive or aggressive towards any doctor, nurse, other member of practice staff or any other person on the practice premises.

The practice considers aggressive behaviour to be any personal, abusive or aggressive comments, cursing or swearing, physical contact or aggressive gestures.

Any instance of actual physical abuse of any doctor or member of practice staff by you or your relatives will be reported to the police as an assault.
