Urgent Appointments

Same day appointments are available for those that need them by contacting the practice

Routine Appointments

We do not have bookable face to face routine appointments with a GP unless stated by GP after eConsult.

Nursing Appointments

Nurse appointments are available in the afternoon up to 4 weeks in advance.

Home visits

Home visits are available for housebound patients and those that need them by contacting the practice

The appointment process

All doctors operate a full 10 minute appointment system. Please telephone the surgery to book an appointment. A 24/7 automated appointment booking and cancellation service is available when calling the surgery.

Please try to arrive on time for your appointment . If you arrive late you may be asked to re-book.

Doctor appointments are available 4 weeks in advance.

An appointment is for one person only. If another member of your family needs to be seen or discussed, more time will be required and a separate appointment should be made.

If you feel your condition is urgent, please make this clear to the receptionist who will put you through to speak to a doctor or nurse to assess your condition.

Check In - on arrival all patients should report to reception to be checked In.
Express Check In - We have a patient self check-in system, which will allow you to avoid queuing at reception when attending the surgery for booked appointments.

Chaperone

If you would like a chaperone when you see the doctor or nurse, please feel free to bring someone with you, or ask us when making your appointment. If you attend an urgent appointment you will be asked to see the available doctor. We endeavour to provide a formal chaperone at the time of request. Our full chaperone policy is available upon request.

Interpreters

Interpreters can be arranged for those patients who do not speak English or who use sign language. Please indicate your requirements when making your appointment at reception and allow a minimum of three days notice.

Language Line

This service is available in cases such as emergency appointments or if short notice i.e book on the day appointments when there is not sufficient time to securean interpreter.

Sign Translate

This service is available for our deaf/hard of hearing patients who use British Sign Language (BSL) as a means of communicating. Kindly inquire at reception for further details.

Private appointments

Request for a private medical examination will be done outside NHS time. Please book a separate appointment with the GP.

Please note that these appointments can only be booked for reasons such as HGV Licence, fitness for work, fitness for sport etc - our receptionists can advise you further

Practice nurses

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly.

Telephone advice

Doctors are available to give advice over the telephone. Our staff will be able to advise you of the availability and times the doctors are able to take or return your calls.

Manage your appointments online

Patients at The Staunton Group Practice are able to have online access at the practice. This permits ability to request repeat prescriptions, book appointments, view blood test results and immunisations along with their list of chronic disease information.

Access to clinical documents can be obtained through a SARs Request ( Subject Access Request for Medical Records) which can take up to 28 days.  Please speak to one of our reception staff regarding a SAR's Request.

GP online services allow you to access a range of services via your computer, mobile or tablet. Once you have signed up, you will be able to:

  • Renew or order repeat prescriptions online.
  • View parts of your GP record, including information about medication, allergies, vaccinations, previous illnesses and test results.
  • You can still contact the practice by phone or in person, this is just another option, which other patients have found is more convenient and saves them time. More information including “how to” leaflets and videos of patients and why they are using GP online services are available.

How to sign-up

For more information, please contact reception or next time you visit the surgery, bring with you a piece of photo ID (passport, driving licence) and something with your address on like a bank statement but not a gas or electric bill. If you don’t have these, please talk to us and we will help you sign-up.

Changing an appointment

To cancel or rechedule an appointment, please contact the practice within 24 hours of the appointment time

Frequent non-attendance of appointments is a misuse of GP and NHS resources. Patients who frequently miss their appointments will receive a formal warning, but if the misuse continues removal from our lists will follow.
